The concept for Uncorked Ventures was formed during a family vacation to South America in early 2009. While sipping on Pisco Sours and wines from Chile and Argentina, two brothers-in-law discussed their passion for good food and good wine. Matt Krause had recently left his human resources position at a San Francisco bay area biotech firm, and Mark Aselstine’s real estate development company in San Diego had slowed to a crawl based on the economic downturn.
